Olympia Exhibition centre is hosting "Enterprise Wireless Technology" and yet another night of debauchery ended up with me not getting out of bed untill 4.30pm.....

The Weatherspoons pub in the High street had a big fight kick off .....

They said they want a panel of leet H4xZor5 doing some sort of hack the flag type of thing, and that they have used the "Cult Of The Dead Cow" on a previous show, so volunteers are wanted,.....

Hi everybody,

Oops, I missed the show again,

Olympia Exhibition centre is hosting "Enterprise Wireless Technology" and yet another night of debauchery ended up with me not getting out of bed untill 4.30pm....and my head hurts, it must have been the last pint ....and no.....there are no photos :-)

I am going to be at the show today....it being 2.30am at the moment, look out for the reports!!!!

The Weatherspoons pub in the High street had a big fight kick off and the Old Bill piled in through the back doors and forced the trouble makers into the street at the front of the pub where there was a large gathering of police on horses waiting for them, I unfortunately got there to late to see the action ...but Heh, Even I can`t be everywhere at once :-)

I had a big row with my local internet cafe....
They have card phones just behind the computers and a Nigerian woman was having a full blown screaming match at someone on the phone...

I couldn`t concentrate on anything (hence why my last blog was not finished) and complained to the staff for not asking the woman to keep the noise down...this was backed up by other net users,

I got told that the woman had paid for her phone call and can say or do what she wants..
I said that I was also paying for their services and got met with if you don`t like it don`t come back again...
Grrrr... sometimes I find it hard to stay "white hat"

Thats it for tonight early start and all that :-)

The Afternoon,

I got to the show for 1pm, but there`s not much to report,

It was smaller than last year but with more visitors, you can get around the show in an hour and that includes talking to various stands, you wouldn`t want to have been stuck there for a whole day.

Next I went to the press room and one of the staff looked at my 2600 shirt and exclaimed "I`ve got one of those" she then told me who gave it to her, saying that she couldn`t pronounce his last name ;-)
This was at Infosec last year and as soon as I said I am The Reverend she says I remember you...yourrrrr Rat! and this other guy came over and also remembered me and grinned awkwardly....

Heh, they were the show organisers from last year when I did the Languard sweep at the show and they shut down the connection thinking it was a virus :-)
A report of it made the "Register" on the 01-05-2002

I must admit I wasn`t surprised with their reactions, but they were all right about it, and looked forward to seeing me at the next "Infosec" in April,

They said they want a panel of leet H4xZor5 doing some sort of hack the flag type of thing, and that they have used the "Cult Of The Dead Cow" on a previous show, so volunteers are wanted, if you want details I can pass them on to you.

I got out my laptop and did the Latest patches for 2k pro and all the time the guy was hovering around nervously, after about ten minutes my connection went and I was locked out....so I put away the laptop and went to an alcove and used SMAC, I got back online :-)

I was walking past a stand and this woman ran over with a barcode reader and tried to scan my pass which was on my belt,
I jumped back (with my "Matrix" like skills :-)) and shouted "Oi that`s bar code rape" (a phrase created by a friend) the woman was still in a half crouched pose with the barcode scanner held out in front of her, and with a lot of onlookers all chuckling...she went bright red and retreated back to the stand.

A bit later I was next door to a stand while talking to someone, and a guy comes up to the rep and asks if there is anyway that he can secure a WiFi network connected to the Internet, completely, from DOS attacks and got a load of waffle for 5 minutes plus a bit longer....I am trying to talk with person next door and it`s distracting me (stifled growl later) I looked at the punter and said "there`s one easy answer" ...."it`s NO"....He went away armed with a bit of knowledge, like look on "google" and read some news groups etc, happy, and the stall holder sulked :-)

Freebies Hmmm, 2 T shirts from the press office and thats it!

Thats your lot for now,

Ps, if I use acronyms that you don`t understand, try "Google" or whatever search engine that you use, first....if that dosn`t work you can E mail me.

PPs,
An Idea that I have just had, Lighters that need no gas, batteries, flints or fuel (gas/petrol)...
Solar powered ie` when it`s left on the bar table or whatever, it is charging up...then on demand it sends juice to a coil of titanium wire which will heat up under a mesh screen to protect it ?....*WARNING* (poor mans copyright already done)
Gimmicky it may be ...but there may be a market ?....any Sponsers? :-)

Night night,

Yours
