Walking down the High st 3.30 a,m I see I am being followed by a group of people who are generally acting hostile, then I see another group on the other side of the road doing the same and they cross over to my side of the road and start makeing menacing noices to me, then the group from behind me start making the same sort of noises so I crossed the road and dived into my 24 hour shop just in time to see the two groups have a quick squabble and and a couple of blows are thrown then they all legged it.

Whilst in the shop, the guy who runs the shop asks if I have seen the new phone without a sim card ??? he bought it off a friend for ?60.00 and was told this is the new security that is being brought into mobile phones ....well if it is then I am to see the thing tommorow as he wants to unlock it to a different network...I wonder if he has been conned and its a cordless landline?

I was playing with one of the old orange coloured phone boxes in the High st, one of the few with a handset and got a ring tone and a menu for free calls so am going to have a look during the daytime when I have less chance of being mugged or attacked ....it`s getting bad when it is to dangerous to go out trashing ect at night, in case you get attacked by piss heads, junkies and general nutters...

Going for a wander I found a new (to me) Internet cafe in Earls court that charges ?1.00 per hour and is quite fast, and allows you to download programs, some of the IBM`s have USB accsess which means I can do a lot more ;-)

The Bt plug point in the cab boxes need you to dial...yes...the magical number "9" for a line out...well around here anyways...use a normal phone to hook in, as the yellow linesman boxes weigh a ton after a while, ok, you lose a few functions...but if you need them then you probally know how to build and use a linesman box anyway.

Standby for my universal laptop....."Lamp post charger"....they all have a the same fuse and so a spare one could be easily adapted to to take a spur out to the transformer that reduces the voltage to your laptop, some posts use 240 volts ac, and some use 120 ac, but the transformer for your laptop usually works on 100 ac, up to 250 ac, so this is within the acceptable range.

So you open the panel remove the fuse, plug yours in and put the cover back on, the lead goes into your backback and charges up your laptop, just sit against the pole, act nonchalant, drinking a coffee or whatever (use your imagination) and charge up, unplug and leave...
If you are really paranoid on the power surges possibilities ect, bung in a surge protector device between the fuse and transformer.
